Cult of Luna

Nachdem bereits vorigen Monat das neue Album der Schweden von Cult of Luna angekündigt wurde, wurde nun auch mit dem Song "Cold Burn" ein erster Einblick in das neue Opus gewährt. Gleichzeitig wird mit dem neuen Album auch ein Videospiel veröffentlicht, welches von Linus Johansson von North Kingdom Greenhouse entwickelt wurde - und auch von diesem gewährt der zugehörige Videoclip erste Eindrücke. Düstere Klangbilder treffen dabei auf finstere und trostlose Landstriche.

So spricht Sänger  Persson selbst über das Album:

"It's a big and cinematic sounding album. I think one of the reasons why we have been able to be so productive the last couple of years is that we have been consistently writing from the heart. We have let our instincts guide us, and I think it’s getting clearer where we are heading.

'The long road north' is a long road home. A direction dictated by a call that penetrates rock and echoes through the forest. It flows over every lake, accelerated by the wind. When it reaches you, you know it’s time. Time to move forward. You don’t know where it will lead but you put the trust in it. With eyes raised towards the midnight sun it pulls you closer. The road is long and the end is uncertain."

"The Long Road North" wird am 11. Februar 2022 via Metal Blade Records erscheinen.

Necronomicon

Inspiriert von H.P. Lovecrafts legendären Werken gründeten sich Necronomicon, Pioniere in Sachen Blackened Death Metal in ihrer Heimat Montreal/Kanada, bereits 1988 und sollten eigentlich niemandem in der Metal-Szene mehr fremd sein. Gründer und Gitarrist Rob "The Witch" hat sich mit seiner Band stets Zeit mit jedem ihrer Full-Length-Releases gelassen, um bei jeder VÖ möglichst alle Nuancen zu perfektionieren, ehe man ihre Musik auf die Massen losließ. 

Anno 2019 erhielten Necronomicon ein Ehrenzertifikat von H.S. Production/Tommy Tremblay und der Stadt Saguenay Lac St. Jean zu ihrem 30. Jubiläum, was vor ihnen lediglich die Band Voivod geschafft hatte. Nun teilte die Band einen Stream ihrer "Vivus Verum"-Live-Performance, welche im Juni 2021 in Montreal aufgezeichnet wurde, um ihr jüngstes Werk "Unus" zu promoten, welches im Oktober 2019 erschien. 

Under The Black Sun 2022

Auch wenn es für viele Festivals im Jahr 2020 und 2021 finster aussah und die jeweiligen Ausgaben entfallen mussten, ließen es sich die Veranstalter des Under The Black Sun Festivals nicht nehmen, auch jetzt in den Wochen vor den Feiertagen bereits ihre ersten Bandbestätigungen für die 2022er Ausgabe anzukündigen. Wer sich bereits auf das Lineup der abgesagten Events gefreut hatte, dürfte happy sein, dass auch diesmal bzw. nach wie vor ...And Oceans und Ancient Rites am Start sein werden. Lasst uns gemeinsam hoffen, dass das UTBS 2022 in gewohnter Manier stattfinden kann!

Whiskey Ritual

Die italienischen Black’n Roller von Whiskey Ritual haben ihr nunmehr fünftes Studioalbum angekündigt. Die Aufnahmen zum noch unbetitelten Album sollen im kommenden März starten und die Veröffentlichung wird nach dem Sommer 2022 anstehen. Wer das bisherige Material der sechs Mannen aus Parma kennt, darf gespannt sein, was sie sich diesmal einfallen lassen. Für alle Black Metal Ultras dürfte es allerdings eins der Highlights des nächsten Jahres werden!

For this reason, instead of spending all of Folter's money on cocaine and discount beers, we decided to invest our time to double that money and then do everything carefully.

It’s our 5th album and by now we have to make everyone understand that we are the best band in the world after KISS.
